Almabtrieb was the first of the IDF European races held during 16-19 July in Germany. As usual riders from all over the world came to race and I was excited as hell to meet so many of my friends from around the globe.
Almost 20 girls were registered to race or freeride and they came from all over Europe and beyond. Maga Mc Whinnie came from Australia, Elena Corrigall from Canada and Emma Daigle -originally from Canada but lately living in Hawaii- came but couldn’t race due to a massive road rash, so both of us lurked (very) hard the entire four days.
The base camp was hot and sunny but a little creek with frozen water some meters away was our life savior. It served us as a shower, beer cooler and general meeting point.
And this is what Germans do for entertaining before/after the races. Race-crawl in a rocky creek till (almost) death. Nico Nuehrig took home the gold, the wounds & of course the glory.
I was crazy stoked to see my friends skate. All the ladies killed it the whole event and the podium looked like this:
1. Elena Corrigall
2. Tamara Prader
3. Spoky Woky
4. Tina Zibeline
5. Glori Kuspch
The last night party was had and despite that awful electronic? music they were DJing we had a great time. Next time we demand DJ Buff Bill. Danke für alles Germany!
The week after in Kozakov the podium was exactly the same:
1. Elena Corrigall
2. Tamara Prader
3. Spoky Woky
Check out these killer shots of the ladies:
Peryagudes starts tomorrow so stay tuned!
