Longboard Girls Crew Israel ambassador Katya Krasner joined forces again with Longboarding For Peace and The Peres Centre For Peace, this time working with teenagers and spreading some longboard love. This is her story!
Longboarding for Peace is an organization working to present a bridge between people with different believes, opinions and ways of life all over the world. In Israel their work with kids shows that what matters is what kind of person you are and not your culture or religion. For me, working with L4P is about this: Getting humans that for some general definition are supposed to be enemies -which is ridiculous- and watch them cooperate in a neutral place doing neutral things like sports. It’s about getting people encouraged… girls, boys, everybody! Just helping them to find and establish their inner strength for self development. And last but not least, my favorite thing about L4P is getting my passion for long boarding and spread it to others!
After 3 months of riding on longboards for the first time, 6 trainings, cultural and social activities and lot’s of new experiences, LongBoarding for Peace Young Leadership program lead by the Peres Center For Peace came to an end with this last activity. These Arab and Jewish youngsters from Jaffa have proved that this unique sport can bring people together and that falling from the board is part of getting up again!

I loved watching the kids getting on the board every time, some with caution some with confidence but non of them gave up. It is an important quality to gain in life, and I was lucky enough to teach them this through longboarding.
