• Interview with Amy London

    Name: Amy London

    Age: 21

    Country : Beautiful New Zealand

I picked up my first longboard many, many years ago. But it wasn’t until late 2010 that I decided I wanted to head in the direction of downhill skating (Broken ankle slowed progress). This year, fingers crossed, will be my first year of actual racing. So far I’ve attended two Outlaws in NZ, each time being the only female. This weekend I have my first official closed road race (NZ’s first as well!), and a month after that I’ll be flying off to Australia for my first IGSA race Mt Keria! Can you say excited, mate!? I bounce around in my seat just thinking about it. Wish me luck! Haha.

how’s the longboard scene where you live ?

Growing, and it’s AWESOME. Every year the community seems to double in size, and I’m stoked to see more girls picking up a board. There are more Outlaws popping up everywhere, as well as sanctioned races. Even huge international names are coming over, board in hand, to play on some of our beautiful hills.
In my own small town I started a longboard Society a couple of years ago. It has grown from two members to 180. Hell yeah!

    Favourite spot?

To be completely honest, the spot doesn’t bother me. If I’m with an awesome crew, and we’re having a good time, that will be my favourite spot.

Setup: Landyachtz Switch 37″, Munkaes and 78a Cannibals (Tweakers for freeriding).

Always stay stoked! And a firm high five for everyone. One of those good ones that leave your hand burning afterwards. Yeah.

    Keep it up girl!
I adore how you’ve been part of crews for ages already, and now start to make it far!
