Translation: Don’t be stubborn ( hard-headed), use it for you, use it for the people who care about you, but use it!

Graphic Campaign by Dan Montes de Oca – LGC Uruguay Ambassador

    The story behind this campaign:

“The idea of a campaign came up after the tragic news of the death of a rider from Montevideo who had an accident while longboarding without a helmet and passed away after being in comma for a week” – Dan Montes de Oca.

The Uruguayan Longboard community heard about accidents like this from other countries but never had a loss before. Rapidly they got together and organized this photo campaign and a video shot by one of the deceased rider’s friend, stressing the importance of wearing the helmet not only for you but for the people who care about you such as  family and friends.

We are sorry to hear stories like this repeating themselves over and over. People, wake up, helmets can save your lives, don’t wait till the next accident happens to you or to someone you know, it’s in your hands!

You could raise the awareness by wearing them helmets in your own videos dear LGC. In _every_ discipline.

Hi Jay. We wear our helmets in most of our videos, except for the first one “Girls can Ride” that some of us are not. That was a year and a half ago and a lot of things had changed since then. Now wearing helmets is a big issue for all of us, and raising awareness of its use even more. This clarified; please note that wearing a helmet is a personal choice. There’s no way any of us can have control over anybody’s mind in order to get a helmet worn.

Before you just start telling everyone to wear helmets, it’s important to understand what helmets are designed for: http://video.tedxcopenhagen.dk/video/911034/mikael-colville-andersen
